Are today's young people more at ease sharing their dating experiences than their mental health status?
Team member, Meher went out on her campus, looking for people who'd feel comfortable appearing on-camera talking about mental health awareness. She didn't get many takers, so instead she came up with this very clever way to get people to express themselves confidentially and anonymously. Team member Sarita and her graphics team contributed the infographic below with positive, affirming self and community care messaging.
Timely mental health intervention is a vital deterrent to the epidemic of self-harm, gun suicide and violence sweeping this country.
As our society struggles with gun violence and other psychological crises, we need to radically destigmatize the role that mental health awareness plays in our sense of safety and well-being. What’s true for the general public is particularly true for young people who face risks, including firearm violence in their schools and communities. There is growing consensus that students themselves, teachers, mental health care professionals, pediatricians and parents, all can and must work together to intervene and support young people in crisis.
