From the very beginning at Will You Hear Me Now?, our stated mission of amplifying the voices of young people has been focused on mentoring. Our projects bring young people who have something important to say into direct contact with seasoned communications professionals who help them hone their messaging, expand their outreach and make a bigger impact. Our young team members are rising leaders who represent the very best and brightest of this nation's future. As filmmakers and professional storytellers, we provide guidance that helps shape messages and get enhanced exposure.
Community service
Many middle schools, high schools and colleges require "community service hours" in order for students to graduate or move on to the next level. We work directly with students and their academic advisors to document the volunteer work done by our team members.
Letters of reference
Several of our team members have already come directly to us for the references required by college applications. We welcome the opportunity to endorse our young advocates' efforts and seek to provide more ways to demonstrate the exemplary work done by our committed team members.
Supporting young activists and advocates
These are challenging times for advocates and activists who are committed to creating deep, societal change. It is easy to get discouraged when you face such an uphill climb, but at Will You Hear Me Now? we are stronger together. Through coaching, advice and shared experience, we are here to support you and turn discouragement into encouragement.
For further information on how to volunteer and enlist our help to document your community service work, or get letters of reference or engage with our mentoring practice, please contact us at info@willyouhearmenow.org.
Encouraging Words about mentoring
Naarah Asamoa (Special Projects Coordinator) Naarah@willyouhearmenow.org
"Being an effective advocate for gun violence prevention and mental health support would not have been possible without the camaraderie of Will You Hear Me Now?. As a member, I have loved the education and advocacy this organization brings and this is just the beginning."
Meher Talreja
"The mentorship Will You Hear Me Now? provided helped me grow as a young advocate and gave me an outlet to turn my passion for gun violence prevention into meaningful conversations that inspire structural change. These experiences became some of the most impactful stories I shared in my college applications because they reflected my commitment to creating a safer future through community engagement."
Krishi
"Will You Hear Me Now? gave me a platform and showed me what it looks like when adults take young advocates seriously. When I started as a high school student, I realized I wasn't heard by the general public regarding my concerns, but being part of this community pushed me to show up more intentionally in my work and in how I think about my own voice for change."
Mentoring is our Core Value
In all our dealings with young people, we abide by our Privacy Policy and the Youth Protection Policy adopted by WILL YOU HEAR ME NOW's BOD when we were granted 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. You can read those policies at the link.
